I started this blog after moving to northern New Mexico from coastal North Carolina. Feeling the loss of my creative community, I started posting works in progress as a way to push myself forward and connect with other writers and painters.
For the first eight months or so I offered original narrative images as weekly image prompt for writers. The Storybook Collaborative pages document the collaborations.
Sadly - for I have enjoyed the adventure, and meeting so many interesting, creative souls - keeping the blog has has taken a back seat to sleep, family, work obligations and the birth of our Mountain daughters. I'd like to get back to it and still hope to one day. Until such time I am delighted by your visit and hope you will leave a comment and come back for more.
I am no writer, so these are my feelings,
firstly the griffin, the magical winged creature, which seems to be comforting the mother with the ill (dying?) child……the central figure holding up the dreams of others, that maybe are lost and dying, the little sweet hedge hog, hiding in the corner, the wise guardian birds, perched on the mothers shoulder, the softness and sadness, and hope of it all, set against the backdrop of the harsh landscape…
hope in a bleak world for rebirth, and regeneration.
Have you ever thought about designing a set of tarot cards Rick? The symbology here is amazing.

Luminous. that little bit of blue gives the whole thing a stained glass feel almost, luminous i would call the story and i would weave it around flight and light, the standing female figure offering energy upward into the sky, a religeous ceremony giving thanks for the power of flight being passed onto to the cradled child, absolutely beautiful painting, words will never be able to fully do them justice because language is linear and your paintings radiate,

Hey there, me here, I did one for a different painting, the same one that caught Mariachristina’s eye:

It’s not very true to life, you’ll see what I mean 🙂 but I loved doing it.

Here’s my link, though I see there’s a pingback above.
I love this painting! I had a lot of fun with it. If you don’t hear from me in the next five days it’s because I’m going away, and I doubt I’ll bring my computer with me. I’ll be back! thanks so much for sharing your work with us.
Lantana
ps “Lantana” is also the name of a flower.

mariacristina, it’s delightful, and it made me laugh. I’ll post it here when I have a few minutes. Enjoy your trip! (where art thou off to?)
lantana…. i moved here to NM from coastal NC. We still have a foot in there… trying to pull it out but with family connections we’ll always be going back for visits.
p.s. thanks, I’m glad you like it. I think of the painting as a family portrait… me, the kid, Naomi holding up our worlds…
enigma…
