I started this blog after moving to northern New Mexico from coastal North Carolina. Feeling the loss of my creative community, I started posting works in progress as a way to push myself forward and connect with other writers and painters.
For the first eight months or so I offered original narrative images as weekly image prompt for writers. The Storybook Collaborative pages document the collaborations.
Sadly - for I have enjoyed the adventure, and meeting so many interesting, creative souls - keeping the blog has has taken a back seat to sleep, family, work obligations and the birth of our Mountain daughters. I'd like to get back to it and still hope to one day. Until such time I am delighted by your visit and hope you will leave a comment and come back for more.

You are one of the most amazing and prolific painters i have ever encountred… and trust me – i know ALOT of artists. Is it okay if I print a copy and hang it in my office?

thanks lakota. I (we) loved the story. (my life partner and I read it together and laughed, even tickled each other a little bit. she is 8 and 1/2 months pregnant. we are pretty happy. join us for tea, won’t you? we have lots of room. you are welcome to stay over. there is this little room up in the attic…)
of course, print the image. i love what you do. you make the world a better place. if you like i can send you a larger file, or burn a cd and send you a file (150 mb or so) you can use to make a high resolution copy.

Woohoo, there’s a definite resemblance there, around the eyes. I might do this one, hmm, I’ve always had this polymorpheus perverse desire to test the boundaries between erotica and pornography, maybe now is the time.

jump right in, Paul. Someone said that the difference between erotica and pornography is a 200% mark-up. I think there are boundaries but they do give a little here and there. Go ahead, test those boundaries!

Rick, Its time to have some prints made so you can start selling some of these wonderful images. I know how you love to give your work away but as a early benefactor and owner of many pieces of your art-I think you should be selling them.
How about”Red Boots” as an image prompt. I love it when people write about pieces I own.

I agree with Randy, Rick. What you are doing here is fantastic, openhearted and truely in the spirit of creative communities but it must be timeconsuming. You could use Cafepress to put these images on tshirts and other objects, including posters and there are other free services like that too. I use Cafepress for my shop, it’s free, it works well, no complaints from customers and once you have set it up, it takes no time or energy to manage. The first product I made was a coffee cup with the quote “Because a community that doesn’t support its artists will soon bore itself to death.” (if you get my meaning).
Anyway, hope everything is proceding according to plan, re the new arrival. Congratulations again!

Paul, thanks for the tip and the kind thoughts. I’ll look into Cafepress. It would be fun to get the images out, and maybe even work with the poets to collaborate there as well. Food for thought.

Hey Rick, LOVE what’s happening here, the bulging belly of community much like what’s happening at your home. You are birthing on many fronts.
I am writing a story for this painting. Do I send it to you? Post it at my blog? Do you want it to post at your blog? It is a long story, be warned, and strange as hell. But then again, all things New Mexico are one foot in this land, one foot in some other ether.

Rick, I just posted on your prompt. As you will find in my post, I did try prose, but it was poetry that pushed its way out.
I am not entirely happy (cos I am trying to practice prose, *ruefully smiles*) but then your painting spoke out in a poem, and I just had to listen and write it down.

Er…Rick, I don’t think I wrote the poem, the woman in your painting did, she spoke to me, I swear.
